MONROEVILLE HOME SHOW ROLLS OUT THE WELCOME MAT
Popular Show Returns February 23 – 26

MONROEVILLE, PA (January 30, 2012)…The Monroeville Home Show will roll out the welcome mat for four days of “Home Sweet Home” at the Monroeville Convention Center February 23 – 26.  The convenient, new facility features 100,000 square feet of state-of-the-art exhibit space and more than 40,000 free parking spots.

Organized by Expositions, Inc, producer of the wildly popular Allegheny Sport, Travel & Outdoor Show, the annual Monroeville Home Show features incredible backyard gardens, a complete dream home and a free seminar stage among scores of exhibits featuring construction, remodeling, kitchens & baths, retail garden centers, and home services.

“Homeowners looking for creative new solutions should definitely pay a visit to the Monroeville Home Show,” said Show Producer Chris Fassnacht.  “This expansive show features many of the region’s most experienced service providers and remodeling experts. Whether you’re planning a major project or simply want to spruce-up for springtime, this Show is your best bet for solid information and state-of-the-art products – all under one roof!”

In celebration of the many families who are making the Monroeville Home Show an annual tradition, the Show will offer free gardening gloves and flower seed packets to the first 50 women through the door each day.  The first 50 children each day will receive free vegetable seed packets – and admission for children age 12 and under is always free.

Highlights of the show include:

Gardening Stage
Presented by Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, the Gardening Stage will feature interactive demonstrations by Master Gardeners and Curators of Horticulture from Phipps. Guests can interact with the region’s foremost authorities on gardening and get answers to their most challenging horticulture and landscaping questions. (Full schedule attached.)

Model Home
This state-of-the-art model from Riverview Homes, Inc, the largest builder of manufactured homes in the northeast, is a single-level ranch home that was manufactured in two sections by the Commodore Corporation in Clarion, PA.  After transport to the Monroeville Home Show, the two sections will be constructed right inside the Monroeville Convention Center by expert installers from Riverview Homes.  With more than 1,600 square feet of living space, the home features three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen with a specialty island, and a family room – all professionally furnished by Aaron Rents in Monroeville.

Composting Center
Created by students from Pittsburgh Job Corps, the 20’ x 20’ installation will demonstrate the nine-step process that homeowners can use to transform food scraps, grass clippings, cardboard boxes and other household debris into valuable soil for their own landscaping needs.

Weatherization Workshops
To help homeowners across the region save money and “go green,” construction students from the Pittsburgh Job Corps will host an interactive display and in-booth seminars about weatherization.  Homeowners can learn smart and easy suggestions to help conduct household energy audits, install healthy insulation, reduce air infiltration, and improve the effectiveness of home heating and cooling systems.

Backyard Gardens
Garden lovers who want to get a jump on spring planting won’t want to miss the backyard gardens.  With a special emphasis on family fun, this year’s gardens include a Pizza (Herb) Garden, Bird Garden, and Butterfly Garden – fun and functional horticulture to engage and entertain the entire family.

Pet Adoption
The Animal Rescue League will showcase adorable pets available for immediate adoption and demonstrate the care they provide for animals across western PA.  The only shelter contracted by the City of Pittsburgh’s Animal Control Department, the Animal Rescue League provides lost and found, adoption, microchip and spay/neuter services.

Home Heroes
An enormous variety of exhibitors will showcase the latest trends in exterior and interior home renovation, decoration and design.  Hundreds of the region’s most experienced professionals will be on hand to share the valuable knowledge that can bring homeowners’ ideas to life or inspire new ones.
